Give Yourself Space To Create

27 Nov

Sometimes all you need is a blank canvas…

I love this video!

“This is what happens when you give graffiti artists an abandoned warehouse and an unlimited amount of paint…”

Writing in Green Ink

24 Nov

It was passed from one bird to another,
the whole gift of the day.
The day went from flute to flute,
went dressed in vegetation,
in flights which opened a tunnel
through the wind would pass
to where birds were breaking open
the dense blue air –
and there, night came in.

When I returned from so many journeys,
I stayed suspended and green
between sun and geography –
I saw how wings worked,
how perfumes are transmitted
by feathery telegraph,
and from above I saw the path,
the springs and the roof tiles,
the fishermen at their trades,
the trousers of the foam;
I saw it all from my green sky.
I had no more alphabet
than the swallows in their courses,
the tiny, shining water
of the small bird on fire
which dances out of the pollen.

– Pablo Neruda, who always wrote in green ink, because he felt it was the colour of hope.

Beautiful, Fluid Movement

21 Nov

I am blown away by the capability and grace that’s possible with the human body…

The first time I watched this, I really followed Lydia, how she flowed and stretched. But it was amazing on second viewing to notice more Phillip’s strength and stability.

Oh, for a yoga practice that encompasses both…

“Variations On Surya Namaskara”
Yoga instructor Phillip Askew and Lydia Walker, formerly of the School of American Ballet, as part of Columbia Ballet Collaborative’s Fall Show at New York City Center Studio.
With the improvisational accompaniment of pianist Jonah Rank.

How to Add Gratitude to Your Day

18 Nov

I was so moved to hear this talk by Louie Schwartzberg.

Beauty In Nature

It is such a great reminder that there is a world around us, waiting for us to notice it.

That a moment of presence, of gratitude, can profoundly affect our mood and our ability to connect.

“Beauty and seduction are nature’s tool for survival, because we will protect what we fall in love with.”

Take a moment today to look at the sky.

Finding Your Path

2 Nov

In the end we are all the same.

Finding your path...

Finding your path…

We want to be happy.

We want to be fulfilled.

We want meaning and purpose in our lives.

We want a sense of connection with God or spirit.

We want other people to respect us and love us.

And we want to feel safe.

These desires are universal.

But the route each of us takes to satisfy them is uniquely our own, based on our individual experiences and memories, or karma.

We’re all heading for the same destination, but we take different roads.

We arrive together, having traveled our different paths.
